500K Mini Linear Taper, Split Shaft With Nut, Lock & Dress Washer. Metric thread: M8 x .75; 7.8mm diameter brass threaded collar (import size, smaller than USA spec versions). 18 spline aluminium split shaft (coarse). Dimensions - 6mm diameter split shaft. The threaded portion on the shaft is 9.5mm long. Total length of the shaft to the top of the spline is 18mm. Linear Taper Pots are generally used in Tone Positions, but can be used for either Tone or Volume depending on preference.
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off some of the high frequencies to ground.

Before you buy

These are raw, unfinished kits from a production factory, not flat-pack furniture. Expect to sand, fill and finish your instrument yourself, and expect the occasional scratch, dent or glue spot to deal with along the way. That is the craft, and it is why the result is worth playing.

Do a mock build before you sand or paint anything. We cannot accept returns on kits that have been part-assembled, painted or stained.

New to building? Start with an ST or TL kit, where much of the wiring is already done at the factory. We would not recommend a hollow body for a first build.
