Tonerider AC2B-ZA AlNiCo 2 Classic Bridge - Zebra (Humbucker)

Tonerider AC2B-ZA AlNiCo 2 Classic Bridge - Zebra (Humbucker)

SKU:AC2B-ZA

The “Improved” Fifties Humbucker. A superb bridge pickup for guitars that need more warmth and more sustain. The earliest Gibson Patent-Applied-For (or “PAF”) pickups used a range of magnets, but PAFs made with Alnico II have always held a special place in many a guitarist’s heart. If you have ever heard someone describe a PAF as “flute-like” or “more like a single coil than a humbucker - then that’s the Alnico II working its magic. Tonerider made a few of these pickups back in 2007 and they quickly became favourites, and continued with custom orders for guitar makers throughout 2008. Now, the Alnico II Classic set is back as an affordable addition to our range. Wiring Diagram here

Before you buy

These are raw, unfinished kits from a production factory, not flat-pack furniture. Expect to sand, fill and finish your instrument yourself, and expect the occasional scratch, dent or glue spot to deal with along the way. That is the craft, and it is why the result is worth playing.

Do a mock build before you sand or paint anything. We cannot accept returns on kits that have been part-assembled, painted or stained.

New to building? Start with an ST or TL kit, where much of the wiring is already done at the factory. We would not recommend a hollow body for a first build.

Build support

You are not on your own once the box arrives. Every kit is backed by our complete instruction manual, a quick start guide, wiring diagrams for more than fifty different kits, and step-by-step videos covering finishing, soldering, hardware, assembly and setup.
