The Workshop
This is a workshop for absolute beginners, no experience necessary! Over the duration of the workshop our facilitators (Trevor, Tim and Kate) will help you build your own electric guitar. You will learn about (and do) sanding, filing, drilling, oiling, shaping, soldering, stringing and tuning your guitar. Plus much much more! Perth only: this workshop is held at the Pit Bull Guitars warehouse in Bayswater, Perth, Western Australia, and is only available to people living in, or able to get to, Perth. Small class of six attendees maximum. This workshop is suitable for left and right handed people - we have both types of guitars, so let us know which you prefer.Your Facilitators
Trevor was a teacher at a girls high schools for more than 30 years, teaching students (and other teachers) the joy of building guitars, until his recent retirement to pursue his passion - of building guitars full-time! Tim is the proprietor of Pit Bull Guitars, and amateur guitar-building enthusiast. So enthusiastic about it in fact, that when Pit Bull Guitars was set to shut down, he bought the whole business in order to carry on the passion, and share it with like-minded people of all experience levels. Kate is new to guitar building; however she has taught practical skills at a university and vocational level for almost 20 years. She totally understands how beginners feel and is happy to help with all questions. Particularly as she has very recently asked so many herself!Your ticket includes

These are raw, unfinished kits from a production factory, not flat-pack furniture. Expect to sand, fill and finish your instrument yourself, and expect the occasional scratch, dent or glue spot to deal with along the way. That is the craft, and it is why the result is worth playing.
Do a mock build before you sand or paint anything. We cannot accept returns on kits that have been part-assembled, painted or stained.
New to building? Start with an ST or TL kit, where much of the wiring is already done at the factory. We would not recommend a hollow body for a first build.
